Modern Jive is the term used for what was originally called "French Jive" or Le Roc. Originally the dance style was very much Rock n Roll orientated, however through the years it has gained influence from other dance styles, like Salsa, and west Coast swing which make it sexier and smoother.
Is t only Danced To Rock n Roll Music ?
It can be danced to almost any kind of music. At most nights you will hear a mixture of current and past chart music, Swing, Latin, and even the odd rock n roll track. It's a dance that suits all age groups, and is a great, fun way to meet new friends & socialise, ....it also helps you to keep fit !!
What should You Wear ?
Dress code is normally casual, but make sure you wear something you feel comfortable in. Remember that modern jive is an aerobic activity, so you will get quite hot. A lot of people bring a change of top (or more than one if they plan on dancing a lot) and a towel. Also try to wear sensible footwear. Rubber soled shoes or trainers will give you problems spinning so are not a good idea.
Do You need To Bring a Partner ?
No you don't. The classes are rotated, so during the class you will dance with a new partner every few minutes. This gives you the experience of dancing with lot's of different people, and getting to meet new friends.
